Educated
Phyllis graduated with honors from Jean Donaldson’s Academy for Dog Trainers in 2016. Recognized world-wide as the Harvard of dog training schools, the Academy is an intensive two year program that prepares students to tackle any behavior challenge efficiently, effectively and humanely. In addition, Phyllis completed Malena DeMartini’s instructor training program for separation anxiety in 2020, where she became a Certified Separation Anxiety Trainer (CSAT). Phyllis also holds a BA in English from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
Experienced
Phyllis has been training professionally for 17 years. During this time, she also served as behavior manager for a shelter in the western suburbs of Chicago, where she helped lower the euthanasia rate to the organizations lowest in its 50 year history.
Effective
Phyllis uses scientifically proven, humane training methods that work on all dogs, no matter the problem or the breed. She currently shares her home with a working-line German Shepherd, Boris, and a rescue terrier, Rufus, who was slated for euthanasia at the shelter where she worked. Both dogs have thrived with positive reinforcement training, and the avoidance of corrections.
